What accessibility features are supported?
How do I get started?
On first launch, the app will download a ~350 MB AI voice model from HuggingFace. This is a one-time download. Once complete, you can start reading by entering a URL, opening a file, or pasting text.
How do I read a web article?
Enter a URL in the input field at the top of the app and tap the arrow button. The app will extract the article content and begin reading.
How do I read plain text?
Switch to the Text tab in the input area, paste or type any content, and tap the play button.

How do I adjust the reading speed?
Open Settings and use the speed slider to adjust playback from 0.5x to 2.0x.
How do I use the Share extension?
In Safari, tap the Share button and select "KO Reader" from the share sheet. The app will open and begin reading the page.
How do I use the reading queue?
Tap "Add to Queue" to line up multiple articles. They will play back-to-back automatically. Open the queue view to reorder, remove items, or jump to a specific entry.
How do I export audio?
Tap the export button to save the current article as an M4A audio file or a book as an M4B audiobook with chapter markers. You can choose a different voice or speed for the export.
How do I bookmark a passage?
Tap the bookmark icon while listening to save your current position. Access your bookmarks from the bookmarks list to jump back to any saved passage.
Why does the app need to download a model?
KO Reader uses on-device AI for text-to-speech generation. The model is downloaded once from HuggingFace and stored locally on your device. No internet connection is required after the initial download.
How do I change the voice?
Tap the voice button to browse 53 voices across 9 languages. You can preview any voice before selecting it and mark favorites for quick access.
What languages are supported?
American English, British English, Spanish, French, Italian, Portuguese, Japanese, Mandarin Chinese, and Hindi.
Can I customize pronunciations?
Yes. Open Settings and go to the pronunciation dictionary to add custom entries. This is useful for character names, technical terms, or any word you want pronounced differently.
How does the sleep timer work?
Tap the moon icon in the player controls to set a sleep timer. When the timer expires, playback will stop automatically.
Is my data being collected?
No. KO Reader processes everything on your device. No data is collected, stored, or transmitted to any server. See our Privacy Policy for details.
